Negative Effects of Clutter

We all keep hearing that clutter is bad but have you ever stopped to think about why?

Clutter has many negative effects. Here are just a few major ones:
  • It can cause you to feel overwhelmed or depressed
  • Robs you of your energy
  • Steals 50% of your storage space
  • It makes life harder
    • You have to look longer, travel farther and dig deeper to find what you are looking for
  • Takes longer to clean
  • Costs you money
    • If you can't find what you need, you buy a replacement. On the other spectrum, you may be paying to store your clutter
  • Makes it hard to think straight
  • May affect how you feel about yourself and affect your relationships.
    • Ever felt embarrassed over the state of your house? You may be ashamed to let people see it resulting in you spending less time with your friends.
  • Takes away the peace and beauty from your house.
Clutter is a very sneaky thing. Nobody would ever suspect them of being the culprit of your lack of energy and unhappiness. What should you do to solve this problem? De-clutter and organize!

The process can be tough emotionally but that is what I am here to help you with. Professional organizers are masters of the process.

Book a consultation with me today and we can talk about your process to get the clutter out of your home.

    The Basics

Just like anything, there are basics you need to know when it comes to organizing. Before I begin giving you tips to help organize your life, I want to give a run down.

Having an organized closet or bathroom isn't the only way to be organized. You may find your house quite clean and organized but still feel flustered and stressed.

You can be disorganized through all of these ways:
    • Social life
    • Work
    • Home
    • Time management (how well do you get through your to do lists?)
    • Finance
    • And more...
So how must one conquer this? The book "Organize Now" came up with a very good way to think.

L = List. If you don't write it down, chances are you will forget.
I = Internal Organization. Organization starts on the inside first.
V = Vision. Be very clear about the vision you have for your life, and then keep that in the forefront of your mind throughout everything you do.
E = External Organization. When you have yourself organized internally and know where you are going and why, then you can begin the task of organizing your external environment.

The last one is very important and she put that in such an amazing way. If you don't know what you are doing and are very confused about your life in general. There is no way that you can be organized because your head will just be clouded with thoughts all the time. If this is the case, I highly suggest seeing a counselor to give you some guidance with what you want to do. Then we can start!

Come back next week as we will be talking clutter!
